I found a few flaws in the guides so here is a little bit of advice: when leveling up crafting on limited materials, check what recipes you can learn next! You can do so by going to your trainer and then, when having the panel for buying recipes open, check the top left for "filters" and check to show recipes you haven't learned yet. Very helpful for strategy planning!
With these guides, look at the overall numbers for each level segment. If you find you have more of a certain material then just check if there is an alternative recipe and level up on it until you reach the amount required for following the guide.
